The server updates are mostly done now. Is it working again for you yet?

Can you possibly tell me the URL that it is trying to access? That would make fixing it a lot easier.

Same issue -

Still getting file not found -

Don\'t know the HTTP address it is trying - I don\'t have a way to check that - Sorry.

Is that a \"it works\" or \"it doesn\'t work\"?

Never mind. This seems to be the fix:

Either...
a) Re-attach to the project

or

b) Replace every instance of \"cosmos.astro.uiuc.edu\" with \"www.cosmologyathome.org\" in the BOINC configuration files.

Sorry about that, but C@H moved to a different domain which causes these problems.

if we re attach are all the results lost? All my dual quads are loaded...

Scott are you saying you just changed the domain name during this maintenance? If that is the case and I would have known I would have drained all my work queues before hand as to not loose all this work.

Message 4582 - Posted: 24 Jan 2008, 2:46:07 UTC - in response to Message 4579.

It worked for me (on one computer - several more to go) as follows:

1. Stop BOINC
2. Open client_state.xml with a text editor
3. Search and replace \"cosmos.astro.uiuc.edu\" with \"www.cosmologyathome.org\"
4. Save and close the file
5. Restart BOINC

This is a tedious process though, especially for people who are unfamiliar with XML or don\'t have access (or time) to do this on all their computers.

Is there perhaps a possibility of getting a temporary redirect from the (incorrect) url so it goes to the right one?

DON\'T REATTACH YET

Hold up: don\'t re-attach just yet. I found the problem with the forwarding from the other server... it should be working now.

Sorry about that suggestion earlier. I didn\'t have any results on my BOINC client so I threw that out without thinking.

No, I didn\'t just change the domain name, although that was something I did. I took that opportunity to upgrade some of the server\'s software, reinstalled the ethernet driver, and got our old server back up and running so that we can give C@H it\'s own dedicated machine, which involved a good amount of work on both machines.

Sorry... LOL. That was \"I had an idea that once I thought about it more it didn\'t seem to be very efficient or future-proof, so I decided to say never mind\"...

The idea was adding a hosts entry. The problem is if your server\'s IP varies, then that won\'t do much good. The only thing with reattaching is the potential for a new hostID to get generated. I may have to do this in a while as I checked on my Intel system and it wouldn\'t connect with the scheduler. I had to put off further investigation due to someone else needing to use the computer...

Agreed - just lost a whole bunch of workunits myself on my own quad-core.

Yeah, that\'s why I wasn\'t keen on detaching...and why I was thinking of a local redirection via the hosts file (for Windows, %systemroot%\\system32\\drivers\\etc\\hosts)

I don\'t get this \"lost\" thing... Are you all saying that you uploaded to a different server and that the reporting of the result now doesn\'t know that you ever did the task? That doesn\'t seem likely, given what Scott is saying, at least not how I interpret it right now anyway...

So we are good to go and don\'t need to change/edit on our end then...
