If you have work which has uploaded to the cosmo servers but you are unable to report due to the scheduler URL change then this may help!

Note 1: Take care when editing the client_state.xml file. I strongly recommend backing it up after you shutdown BOINC and before you make any changes.

Note 2: You will still need to detach and reattch to the project to get the correct URL in all files. This will only allow you to report complete tasks before detaching.

Note 3: I take no responsibility if this doesnt work. It worked for me on 2 hosts, but I wont guarantee it will work on anything else!!

OK down to business!

1. Shutdown BOINC entirely. ie do not just pause / suspend it. For service installs, this requires you to stop the BOINC service. For standard installs I think exiting the manager will do the job. On Linux / UNIX stop the BOINC Daemon.

2. Make sure BOINC is stopped! ;)

3. Backup your client_state.xml file

4. Edit client_state and locate the Scheduler URL tag for the Cosmology@home project. Exactly where in the file will depend on what projects you have attached, what order you attached them etc. The line will look something like this:
<scheduler_url>http://cosmos.astro.uiuc.edu/cosmohome_cgi/cgi</scheduler_url>

5. Replace the scheduler URL line with the following:
<scheduler_url>http://cosmologyathome.org/cosmohome_cgi/cgi</scheduler_url>

6. save and close client_state.xml

7. restart BOINC

8. Report completed cosmo work

9. Detach the project and reattach to the correct URL (or use your account manager to do this for you)

hope that gets a few people out of a jam!

Paul

I doubt it. In the URL change announcement thread Scott mentioned that the cosmos.astro.uiuc.edu URL would only do a website redirect from now on.

I doubt it.. but i have not tried. I had already uploaded completed units before the server URL change. SO I aborted all unstarted / incomplete units and then I only needed to report the units.. not upload any of them.

you could try changing the upload handler to the new URL.. it will prob work...

give it a shot and let us know!

just realised this is the wrong URL... cosmology ends in a .org not a .com...

sorry \'bout that! this one is correct!

I tried to modify the upload URL, it didn\'t like the signature on upload. Well, only 1 result lost, not a catastrophy.
