Just wondering why the same 420 points are given to every job independent of the cpu time used. That time can vary by a factor of 3 for a given machine. I keep telling myself that I am not doing BOINC tasks just for the credits, but still. . .

AFAIR it is a decision made in projects early history.

They decided to give fix 420 points and never changed it again. However, from todays point of view, i like the idea of "penalizing" the use of inefficient computers.

Don't get me wrong, of course i know, nobody can affort buying newest hardware every time it is needed. But I think, power consumption is an important topic today, and changing the credit system to a point, where even the use of an old Pentium 4 begins to make sense (from a credit POV), is the wrong way imho.

Just my 2 cents =)
