Hi. I have some Android devices and I'd like to know if you can create an app of this project also for Android. Here are the statistics of my devices: Nexus 7 2013 CPU Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 Quad-core 1.5 GHz; GPU Adreno 320; 2 GB RAM; Android 5.1.1 SurfTab Ventos 7.0 Cortex A9 Dual-Core 1.5 GHz; GPU Mali-400 MP2; 512 MB RAM; Android 4.1.1 Samsung Galaxy S3 CPU Exynos 4412 Quad-Core 1.4 GHz; GPU Mali-400 MP; 1 GB RAM; Android 4.3 Asus ZenFone 2 ZE551ML CPU Intel-Atom Z3580 Quad-Core 2.3 GHz (x86); GPU PowerVR G6430; 4 GB RAM; Android 5.0 Samsung Galaxy Grand Neo CPU Cortex A7 Quad-Core 1.2 GHz; GPU Videocore IV; 1 GB RAM; Android 4.2 Samsung Galaxy Note 4 CPU Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 APQ8084 Quad-Core 2.7 GHz; GPU Adreno 420; 3 GB ram Android 4.4.4 And soon I'll buy the LG G4 CPU Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 Hexa-Core (2x 1.8 GHz + 4x 1.44 GHz); GPU Adreno 418; 3 GB RAM; Android 5.1 I hope you will create a version of Cosmology@Home also for Android (both ARM and x86 devices). |

Hi Alessio, Thanks for the interest. Unfortunately we don't currently have Android support planned. The reason is simply that we don't have the man-power to support another platform. If you're interested in another astrophysics related BOINC project which supports Android you could take a look at Einstein@Home if you haven't already. Sorry I can't be of more help! |

With the relaunch, any chance of Droid support coming? Cheers, Yavanius |

Hi Yavanius, unfortunately no change in plans on our end. The only things I can see changing this are if 1) Docker (which we use to run our apps) starts supporting Android or 2) our man-power increases, (for example, we'd welcome interested members from the community getting involved in playing around with Android versions of C@H apps, granted I think it'd be pretty tough) |

I figure the newer clients might be tough to port over, but if you keep the legacy app going, maybe at some point it could be ported over in some form. SETI and Asteroids take a good chunk of time on Droid, even on the more powerful devices, but folks seem to like it none-the-less. On the negative side though, it seems PIE causes a lot of headaches and heartburn... but if you can get past that... |
