Hi all, apologies for the extended downtime we had the past few days. We had a hard disk failure that, since it came over the weekend, took a bit longer to resolve than usual. We are back now and there was no data loss, however its possible some of your clients missed reporting deadlines (since we were unavailable). If you feel you lost significant credits because of this please don't hesitate to contact me. We're working on making sure similar errors in the future can be resolved quicker. For now, sorry again, and happy crunching! |

Some BOINC projects give the normal amount of credit to tasks returned late if the quota for that workunit was not already met. This tends to prevent most credit problems if the server was offline for a while. Have you considered setting up for that? |

That's a good idea, I hadn't thought of that option. I think we can probably do that. |

Ok, after some digging, we're now correctly set up so that for future downtime, credit will still be granted after the deadline. Thanks for the suggestion. |

I am new to this program. What are the purpose of the credits? Do I use them somehow? You can't do anything with them really, except determine how well your machine is operating. They do not necessarily compare directly from one project to another either. However, some people take them seriously for some reason. |
