The BOINC Pentathlon is complete, as is our own Planck contest! You can see the results of the Planck contest here and of the Pentathlon here. Congratulations to users Mumps[MM], UofS-Computer-Science, and Bryan, and to team SETI.USA (who also won the Pentathlon)! You guys will be added to the list of thank-yous in our paper. In the end it was a quite exciting race for the 3rd place user spot, Bryan managed to overtake KaptainBlaZzed with only 45 minutes left in the contest last night! Well done to both of you and many thanks to all of the thousands of users and hundreds of teams that contributed. This was far and away the most computing power I've seen at C@H since I've been managing it, and the workunits you computed will greatly help us improve our work. Stay tuned for a future post about these results. |

Nice, good job everyone. Will the docker app be resumed now that the pentathlon is over? |

Hey, cool, I'm on the board. My team is 133rd, and I'm 1118th but at least I'm there. :) |

Will the docker app be resumed now that the pentathlon is over? Yes, I'll add more jobs soon as we finish the batch of Planck jobs sitting in the queue. |

Will the docker app be resumed now that the pentathlon is over? It's getting close, 4300 tasks left. |

Nice, I see docker WUs now. I'll have to do some once the FB event is over. |

When we will see GPU acceleration. I am curios. For example on my laptop i5 3th gen dell a milky way task is done in over 1.5 hours while on my gpu ( sitting my computer 480gtx) the same type of task is done in under 5 min. Please Comment :) |

The combination of the camb_boinc2docker application and VirtualBox isn't suited to GPU computation. The camb_boinc2docker has the advantage of one application to run on Windows and Linux using VirtualBox. This project doesn't have a lot of programming 'manpower' and Marius has streamlined as much as he could. The camb_legacy application is being depreciated and really doesn't get much, if any support at this time. There is a link to the development of the app under Server, Development at the top of the webpage. You can take a look at the source |

So for the First BIG DATA linked results (papers). When will those be ready... Basically saying any type of Road Map... Example (if all goes well in 16 months we will finish the first stage of big data computation ... then papers will be published 3 moths after that... then we will prepare a new round of computations that will help us understand this and that ... that will probably take about 3 years to compute... so on so forth).... Like a Road map.... for the public awareness. :) I hope you do not take this as a critic but as an advice :) |

By-the-way I saw that on the 14th of march Marius did not had any consistent tasks working on any PC's. That goes to show the Respect for the project. How can you ask for volunteers if you as a developer are not involved. If they are any .. developers out there... Please Respect yourself. (on the site a link to a -public cosmology team + some public info + active work-units) Thanks :) |

But is there ever a finish line for camb_boinc2docker, or are new experiments constantly being added that require more computing? It is not clear to me how the project is progressing (or not). |
